Where did you grow up?
I grew up all over the place: Yucca Valley, Tucson AZ, Palm Desert, Lake Arrowhead, and finally San Diego. San Diego became home for me during my Junior High years.

What's your family like?
My wife is my absolute best friend in the world. It doesn't matter what we do; we simply enjoy being together, though we really enjoy watching movies and playing board/card games with our friends. I enjoy a great relationship with my mother and father, who have been married for over 30 years. I have a sister, a brother-in-law, and two nieces who are the most adorable kids in the world (until I have children of my own, of course). We’re all a bit crazy in our own ways, but that’s just how it goes with family.

What are your hobbies?
Mainly and most frequently: studying/learning my wife, watching good movies, spending quality time with friends and family. Occasionally: I love playing basketball, I know a few good card tricks, and (my guilty pleasure) I grew up playing video games.

What is your favorite bible verse or quote?
Verses: 1 Timothy 1:15,  1 John 1:9,  1 Peter 3:7
Quote:
"If any man thinks ill of you, do not be angry with him, for you are worse than he thinks you to be."  -  Charles Haddon Spurgeon
“Preach the Gospel, die, and be forgotten.” - Zinzendorf

Who is the most influential person related to your ministry?
My wife, who continually helps to soften my edges, and Pastor Brian Day, who has helped shape my views on ministry in the healthiest and most practical ways. Theologically speaking, Pastors David Fandey, Forrest Weiland, and Patrick Crandall have influenced me tremendously - for which I am extremely grateful. Also, Pastor Aaron Ivey of the Austin Stone Church has helped me to grow as a leader and a musical theologian.

What was the last book you read?
Side by Side by Ed Welch and Saturate by Jeff Vanderstelt

Who is your favorite author?
Greg Forster, Wayne Grudem, John Piper, Francis Chan, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Jeff Vanderstelt

What's on your iPod?
A rather eclectic mix of all kinds of music, as well as two translations of the Bible, audiobooks and a trove of great sermons. If you're looking for some awesome music, check out: The Reign of Kindo, Austin Stone Worship, Chris Stapleton, and St.Paul & the Broken Bones.

What's a favorite trip you've been on?
I HAVE to say my honeymoon, right? Definitely my honeymoon. Seeing Hawaii with my wife and her seeing it for the first time with me : priceless. Now we just can't wait to go back!

What's your favorite indulgence?
Nerding out on Star Wars or Lord of the Rings movies. Doesn't matter which one, or at which point I start watching...once it's on - I'm in.

What's a surprising fact about you?
I used to be a pretty shy person. But I repented of that.
