Church Planting & Missions

We believe that God has called His people, the church, to make disciples of all nations by bringing the message of the gospel to those alienated from God.

The church is to live out the gospel ln both word and deed for the glory of God and His mission of redemption. The Fields places a priority in helping to establish new churches through church planting and by supporting missionaries in order to help fulfill the mission of God. Below is a list of some of the people and ministries we prayerfully and financially partner with.

Acts 29 Australia & New Zealand

David Fandey is the regional coordinator for Australasia for the Acts 29 church planting network. The Fields is heavily invested in churches getting planted in Australasia, which includes Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. David travels to that part of the world regularly to coordinate this region, train, assess Church Planters, and conduct Church Planting conferences. The Fields also hosts Church Planting Interns from that part of the world regularly. In addition to that, The Fields is heavily funding this endeavor.

Prayer Needs

  • Prayer for continued outreach to the people of Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
  • Prayer for safe travel for David and his wife, Wilma, as they regularly travel to the region.
  • Pray for good relationships among the church planters in the region, that they might support one another.
  • Most of all pray for those hearing the Gospel in Australasia.

Mark and Katherine Glenn

Mark and Katherine Glenn have been married for 13 years and have three children. Mark grew up in the Highlands area, while Katherine moved there to start high school. Their children attend the local public school and between the five of them, they're involved in many different activities! Mark manages his own architectural practice while Katherine works part-time as a paralegal.

God made it clear to the Glenns that he wanted them to plant a church in their home area while spending three months being a part of The Fields in Carlsbad, CA. With the blessing of the elders and the church they returned home to plant The Fields Australia.

Spiritual Climate

The Glenns live in an area that is beautiful and well off in many ways. The people of the shire (no there are no hobbits here!) are generally financially stable and educated. The shire is self-sufficient and is a developing area with a number of people moving there each year.

The most interesting thing within a number of cultures and sub-cultures that are present, is that the main attraction is one of community which gives people a sense of belonging and value. Whether it is bridge club at the senior club or the Parents and Citizens association at any of the schools or within any of the sporting clubs, people are searching to form a fellowship in community with one another. Someone they can call if they are in trouble, need help or advice. They can rally together to supply meals or just a relationship based on a mutual passion.

This sense of belonging and attempt of community makes it hard to replace as people see this as their only option for community. The Glenns just want them not only to have this community but even more importantly they want them to know Jesus. With Him, community becomes so much richer and will have so much more meaning. They want the motivation for The Fields to come out of that sense of community and love for Jesus.

Also, generally people are in a comfortable place in live. Because of this, the spiritual climate is one of either not seeing the need for a saviour or an attitude of believing in God but no real understanding or faith in who Jesus is or what he has done.

Prayer Needs

  • Prayer for wise time management and that God would keep work coming in to provide for the Glenns.
  • Prayer for the people of the Highlands to see the need for Jesus, and that his spirit would go before the Glenns and soften people hearts for what God has for them.
  • Pray for the people that are a part of The Fields here, for strength, continue trust and reliance on God for everything. Also giving praise for them and their love of Jesus.
  • Most of all that a real revival happens, a re-orientation of the people to form an area that is known for their love of Jesus and commitment to him.

Gabriel Kisanga

Gabriel has been teaching and preaching since the age of 19. In 2003 he became an indigenous missionary to the Congo. He is a member of the Acts 29 church-planting network, and has since planted eight churches and is now working on the ninth in Mont-Ngafula. His church planting and training ministry “Centre International d’Evangelisation et des Missions” (CIEM) has also started a primary school for poor children in Kindele and a seminary in Point-Noire, Brazzaville-Congo. His team is currently seeking to establish a seminary in Kinshasa, the biggest French-speaking city in Africa.

Prayer Needs

  • Pray for the Kisangas as they evangelize the Congo and the region around the middle of Africa by training church planters and get them plant many churches in their origin areas.
  • Pray that Gabriel and the other missionaries are granted wisdom, power, and God’s authority while preaching.
  • Pray that their ministry will be able to equip and meet the needs of their missionaries, gain teachers for the seminaries, and have God’s guidance and provision as they plan and host various events in 2012.

David & Diane Martinelli

David and Diane joined the staff of Cru independently after being significantly impacted by the ministry in college. David first served on staff at the University of South Dakota, then Iowa State, then as the Campus Director at the University of Illinois. Diane first served on staff at Sacramento State and then as an Associate Director at UCLA. They met and married in 1999 and then served together at the U of Illinois and then in Chicago as the City’s Metro Directors. Then for 9 years they moved to California to oversee Campus Crusade’s work on the West Coast. During these 9 years they served as National Directors in an area of more than 3 million college students (California, Arizona, Hawaii, and Las Vegas). They helped to oversee the more than 300 staff on these campuses. Also, it is during this 9 year period that they got connected to The Fields where David served as an elder for 8 years.

David and Diane are currently in the middle of a transition. David will now be the Executive National Director of the the US Campus Field Ministry for Cru (headquartered in Orlando, FL). Where the scope was previously more limited to just the Pacific Southwest, now they will be responsible for the whole Nation! There are 20.3 million college students in the US. They will help give leadership to the 3,800 staff across the county with the goal of reaching these students with the Gospel, building them in their faith, and sending them to reach the world. They covet your prayers for this huge endeavor!

Spiritual Climate

College is often a time of renewed interest in spiritual matters. Young people must think through the faith of their parents and determine where they stand themselves. They are exposed to many new ideas and people of other faiths.

Prayer Needs

  • Please pray for the Martinelli family as they transition to a new role within CRU in Orlando, Florida.

truthXchange

For God's glory, truthXchange desires to be a thriving, inspiring resource that broadcasts a Two-ist, gospel-driven worldview response to One-ist spirituality. We want to recruit, equip and mobilize a network of fearless Christians prepared to defend the church and share the gospel with the world around them.

TWO-ISM

All Is Two: We worship and serve the eternal, personal Creator of all things. God alone is divine and is distinct from His creation, yet through His son, Jesus, He is in loving communion with it.

ONE-ISM

All Is One: We worship and serve the creation as divine. All distinctions must be eliminated and, through "enlightenment," we discover that we also are divine.
