All of us are under sin, both Jew and Gentile. We are totally depraved and deserve the wrath of God upon sin. Even though our sin highlights the incredible righteousness of God, we have no excuse for our sin. We need to agree with God and repent of our sin. The gospel leads us to admit and repent of our sin which makes us ready to receive the good news of the gospel. Because of God’s love and mercy through the sacrifice of His Son, we can now be forgiven of our sin and adopted into His family.
