Good news, bad news. Gentiles were streaming into the church, but most of the Jews rejected their Messiah. God was offering them righteousness in Christ, but they refused his offer. In Romans 9:30 – 10:4 Paul explains that they refused to recognize God’s offer of righteousness in Christ because of Misplaced Confidence and Misguided Zeal. We could title this section: Two ways to mess up and miss grace – a message as relevant today as it was then.

Romans 10:4: Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
