The Bible clearly teaches that when we turn our lives over to Jesus, when we start following Him, we are given a new life, a new nature, a new identity. Who we really are will determine how we live. Our new identity is completely wrapped around the work of Christ. That is why Paul can say that our old self has been crucified with Christ and we can now walk in the newness of life. This truth sets us free from the slavery to sin.
