Pride. It’s a sin that’s easy to recognize in others, but is easily goes unnoticed in our own. Sometimes it comes in the form of looking down on others – especially those we consider less godly. In the book of Romans, Paul had some great news for his Gentile readers. God had a plan for them! But he didn’t want them to become conceited about the temporary rejection of Israel. Paul’s words of admonition in Romans 11:25-36 are good medicine for all of us who tend to be smug or self-righteous. Being reminded of God’s plan and God’s mercy will move us to humble praise of our wonderful God.
Romans 11:33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
"Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?"
"Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?"
For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.
