Friend, healer, Savior, helper – we like to think of Jesus in these ways. But judge? That hardly generates warm feelings, and yet the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is both the loving Lord and final judge. Paul talks about how and why we will be judged in Romans 2:12-16. In the first chapter he showed that God has revealed himself through creation. Now we see that we also have a knowledge of right and wrong built into spiritual DNA. That’s why, when confronted with our failure to meet God’s standards, we have to admit that we’re busted.
