I've been married to Wilma for 18 years and we have six kids, ages >1 thru 14! We have a lot of fun. Interestingly, Wilma and I are both Cal Poly SLO engineering grads but we consider it a compliment when people tell us, "You don't seem like engineers". John Miller What's on your iPod?U2, and from there, a mix of Fernado Ortega, Jack Johnson, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Third Day, Jars of Clay What's a favorite trip you've been on?Before I got married, I back packed around the world by myself for 6 and a half months going from Europe to the Middle East to Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Wilma and I lived in New Zealand for three months and traveled both islands extensively. Drove across the US and back twice with four kids in our van. What's your favorite indulgence?Watching a movie or sitting in the hot tub with my wife, spending the day at the beach, surfing in warm water. What's a surprising fact about you?I have a shy side. |

My wife is very outgoing, loves to cook and practice hospitality, plays piano, and loves most anything to do with business. My son Ben loves surfing here is southern CA. He also likes to discuss theological topics from the Bible which I enjoy also. What are your hobbies?Skiing, hiking, playing guitar and learning piano, reading, kayaking. I have enjoyed John MacArthur's teaching (via radio), though I don't hold to his view on limited atonement. I believe that Christ really did die for everyone. Patrick Crandall Ministry StaffWhere did you grow up?All over the place. I was born in Texas, was raised mostly in Michigan and Kentucky, and went to college in Alabama. There was a little bit of Iowa, North Carolina, and Virginia mixed in along the way. Please tell us about your family.My parents, Barry and Kim, live in Wyoming where he pastors a small church and she helps out, particularly with the kids. I've got one younger sister, Katie. She's commuting right now between Nashville, where she works, and Atlanta, where her husband in grad school. What are your hobbies?I'm a sports nut- if there is a ball or a stick involved, count me in. I haven't done much of it, but I have loved the traveling I've done. I love games and people. I'm a pretty big reader too, and books are made better if you can combine them with tea and/or a fire. John Duarte Ministry StaffWhere did you group up?Newhall, California What's your family like?I met my beautiful bride, Bethany, in 2004 and we married in 2006. 362 days later, our daughter Faith was born and it has been an adventure the whole while. Our newest addition is Josiah James (born January of 2011). both are loaded with personality...just like their parents. Bethany is super tidy and organized, which is exactly what I need to keep everything in order in the family...Faith is just like her mommy (make sure you don't put her toys away in the wrong place), and JJ...well, he likes to eat and sleep...just like his daddy. Tell us about a favorite trip/s you've been onLast Christmas, Bethany, Faith and I spent a week in Bend, OR with my family...we did some skiing, sledding, and a whole bunch of absolutely nothing. It was the last chance we were going to have to really relax for a while, and it was such a blessing. What's your favorite indulgence?I love Diet Dr. Pepper. My brother is married and has 2 kids and my sister is married and has 2 kids. I'm not married and don't have 2 kids. They all live up in Washington State. Who is the most influential person related to your ministry? Some people who have influenced me in ministry are professors from college and a best friend, also from college. They challenged me to look at vocation in different ways and better equipped for the (unknown) long-term plans. What was the last book you read?Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers What's on your iPod?My iPod has tons of country, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Johnny Cash, and an eclectic mix of other stuff. What's a favorite trip you've been on?My parents were very intentional about taking family vacations when I was a kid. We went to Yosemite frequently, sometimes Lake Tahoe, Mammoth, the Central Coast, pretty much anywhere you can camp with four small kids. I would say any of those are a favorite. Bret Theis junior HighWhere did you grow up?I grew up all over the place: Yucca Valley, Tucson AZ, Palm Desert, Lake Arrowhead, and finally San Diego. San Diego became home for me during my Junior High years. What's your family like?My wife is my absolute best friend in the world. It doesn't matter what we do; we simply enjoy being together, though we really enjoy watching movies and playing board/card games with our friends. I enjoy a great relationship with my mother and father, who have been married for 32 years. My sister and brother-in-law also attend The Fields and are expecting a little girl soon! Tolkien What's on your iPod?A rather eclectic mix of all kinds of music, as well as two translations of the Bible, audiobooks and a trove of great sermons. However, my latest pick has been The Reign of Kindo…for about the last 6 months or so. Can't get enough of their latest album. PLUS, it doesn't hurt that they love Jesus. What's a favorite trip you've been on?I HAVE to say my honeymoon, right? Definitely my honeymoon. Seeing Hawaii with my wife and her seeing it for the first time with me : priceless. Now we just can't wait to go back! What's your favorite indulgence?Nerding out on Star Wars or Lord of the Rings movies. Doesn't matter which one, or at which point I start watching...once it's on - I'm in. What's a surprising fact about you?I've never broken a bone or had a cavity, which is odd because (1) I've been in many bone-breaking scenarios and (2) I used to eat more candy and junk food than anyone I know.

Russell Cochran High SchoolWhere did you grow up?I grew up back east, in Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania,and then back to Michigan from there I joined the Navy, spent two years in South Carolina, and then was transferred out to San Diego. And now North County has been my home for over nine years. What's your family like?I am blessed with such a great family. My wife is the most amazing person I know, we love to dream together and be there "in the trenches" for each other. We have two beautiful girls, Eliza and Noël, born in 2010 and 2011 respectively. We are praying for the grace to have a large family :) What are your hobbies?I enjoy a great deal of things and especially trying new things and "mastering" them, though I am certainly a master of none of them. Of late though, I have been enjoying photography, playing music, gardening and surfing. And I always love a good cup of coffee and conversation with my wife or some friends.
